Silver War Badge Roll

I today located my UK Gt Grandfathers Medal Index Card and it has the following detail.

George H. Hecks

A.S.C Pte & Cpl

Reg No. M2/080513

Victory Medal

15 Star Medal

SWB List ASC/1908

Dis 392 (xvi) 3-12-17

(1) France entry 21-7-15

I understand from reading this forum that the Silver War Badge Roll may be accessible. Does it contain any extra information to the above?

My reason for asking is that I have several photos of George in a hospital or nursing home (looks like UK? - some group shots with other wounded men and children visiting) and family information says he was invalided for quite some time and suffered for the rest of his days with half of his face frozen. The men are all dressed in a loose white type uniform maybe hospital garb with normal army peaked caps.

I would very much like to research what may have occured and would appreciate any advice on where I should next proceed.

Regards

Peter

It will specify:

Date of Enlistment

Date of Discharge

Age on discharge and Cause.

ASC SWB rolls don't usually specifiy individual Coys.

SWB rolls can only be accessed in the flesh - ASC/1908 needs to be converted to a WO 329 number and his entry will be on page 1908 of that roll.

If you cannot visit in person ask one fo the guys in the PRO part of the forum.
