RichardH Posted 24 May , 2004 Share Posted 24 May , 2004 Hello, I'm just rediscovering how addictive (and fascinating) family history can be, as this morning I found out for the first time that one of my relations was: Private J G Sadler, 10th Bn KOYLI, service no. 15023, died 3rd July 1916. I was wondering if theres anything else that anybody could add apart from the info from the CWGC site??? Many thanks Regards Richard

Stephen Nulty Posted 24 May , 2004 Share Posted 24 May , 2004 Richard And from the 1891 census No 31, Mackers Field, Normanton William Sadler, aged 28, a Coal Miner Francess Mary Sadler, aged 28, John George Sadler, aged 10, A scholar Peter Mountford, aged 40, a lodger and Coal Miner Emily Mountford, aged 36, a lodger Ruth Mountford, aged 2, a lodger. Note that the discrepancy between John’s age in 1891 (10) and again in 1901 (17), is quite common as people often weren’t sure exactly how old they were!! Usually, the later census is more accurate. Bob Coulson Posted 25 May , 2004 Share Posted 25 May , 2004 Richard, As he died of wounds on the 3rd of July this would most likely have been incurred on July 1st when 10th KOYLI were in action at Fricourt. Bob.
