Waddell Posted 27 April , 2010 Share Posted 27 April , 2010 Following on from the new edition of the Anzac Book it is nice to see Bill Gammage's "The Broken Years" has been printed again with maps and photographs accompanying the text. http://voice.unimelb.edu.au/news/6091/ A really useful book. Scott Scott Thanks for this - I have an old and well-worn copy. it is great to see it has been reprinted. The AWM and the Menzies Library at ANU have a copy of Bill's thesis (as he says, economy and readability required that much of the evidence included in the thesis should be omitted in the book). Indeed a very useful book. If I ever retire to Canberra, I would be very tempted to read the thesis. Judy
moggs Posted 27 April , 2010 Share Posted 27 April , 2010 Yes, I agree, a terrific book. I, too, have a well read copy and treasure it greatly. Had a look at the new edition and felt that, at a glance, I had access to the same and similar pix elsewhere. I do have to say, though, that it was gorgeously presented and I might be tempted at some stage. But, there are so many books I don't have copies of yet - aaaaagh! it's all too much. sorry jonathan
