Battleground Europe: Walking the Ancre

I did a search but found nothing about this publication. Does anyone know if it is still in the works?

I am not aware of such a publication. Do you mean 'Walking the Somme' by Paul Reed? That has some excellent walks on the Ancre.

I believe Michael Stedman was going to write such a title but it never appeared.

I have a much battered copy Walking the Somme but I read about the anticipated Walking the Ancre in the recent thread in this section concerning High Wood. I guess it's not going to happen! Oh well.

No, I suspect it won't.

But a new edition of Walking the Somme comes out next year.

How will the new edition differ from the old one ?

It will be completely updated (remember I wrote it in 1993/4!), have new b/w photos, a colour photo section and an extra walk, plus new maps.

So unlike some reprints it will actually be in many ways a new book.

Tremendous news. "Walking the Somme " is a book I return to again and again and proved to be a tremendous guidebook and reference book. I look forward to the new edition.
