Extra MGs for MG Sections of Battalions

Many thanks to all who answered my post on the shift to the four-company structure in Territorial Force infantry battalions. It was good to here from people who knew so much about specific battalions.

With that success still fresh in my mind, I'd like to ask participants on this forum to join me in a similar venture. This time, the question concerns the arrival of the third and fourth machineguns for the machinegun sections of infantry battalions. I know that plans to do this were hatched as early as November of 1914. I also know that the War Establishments for New Army units of 1 April 1915 allow four machineguns to each infantry battalion. What I don't know is when battalions already on the Western Front got their extra machineguns.

Sorry, can't answer your question directly although my Uncle was in the 8th Royal Scots Machine Gun Company.

If you have a look on the Main Site "Machine Gun Corps" though,Chris may have already supplied your answer.
