Found him in the 1891 census.

Living at 37, Aylesford Street, Leamington. Household consists of Edith, a widow aged 45, occupation “dealer”, son William, aged 21 and a gas fitter , son Charles, aged 14, a telegraph boy and son Archibald, aged 11.

Charles age of 14 disagrees with his age at death of 46 in 1918, as this latter age suggests that he would have been 18/19 in 1891. However, many people had their age recorded incorrectly in the 1891 census. In many cases, this was because they simply didn’t know exactly how old they were and didn’t have to provide proof to the enumerator.
