AndyHollinger Posted 27 September , 2010 Share Posted 27 September , 2010 I just got this book from the publisher to be considered as outside reading for my history course. I'm really NOT in the mood for a Lions/Donkeys or for more Haig bashing. Is this book worth the effort of reading for consideration? I have a shelf full of titles and this is next up - my last WWI consideration was "Over There" by Bryan Farwell which was very good, if not a bit dry. Robert Dunlop Posted 27 September , 2010 Share Posted 27 September , 2010 Andy, it is not one that I have read. A potentially useful review here. Robert
Gibbo Posted 27 September , 2010 Share Posted 27 September , 2010 I considered buying it when it first came out, but decided not tobecause the subject is outside the author's areas of expertise (Churchill and the Holocaust), backed up by the negative comments in this thread. AndyHollinger Posted 27 September , 2010 Author Share Posted 27 September , 2010 Thanks to both of you. Sorry I was not more diligent on the search of previous string, but I tried, and didn't see that string. The book goes back to the end of the line. Thanks again. Pete1052 Posted 27 September , 2010 Share Posted 27 September , 2010 That's Byron Farwell, best known for his books on the Victorian military. I talked to him once.
