jhill Posted 11 June , 2004 Share Posted 11 June , 2004 The War diary entry of the 3rd Can. C.C.S. (Remy) for Jun 7, 1916 records the death of Pte. Delay on that date. However, I cannot find the entry on the CWGC site. His Attestation paper is on-line and the spelling seems correct. Is there a simple explanation? jhill Posted 11 June , 2004 Author Share Posted 11 June , 2004 You will find his CWGC entry Here Thank you. Once again I have been buffaloed by spelling irregularities; in this case "Delay" rather than "De Lay". I presume that the army always knew him as "Delay". His family probably fixed it up after the war.
mordac Posted 11 June , 2004 Share Posted 11 June , 2004 Hi James: I think his last name is Delay. Check out his signature on his attestation papers. Pte. Delay is listed as DOW. Garth
