More abbreviations

After a long silence due to the project proceeding well I am back for a bit more help on abbreviation used in the WWI Registers.

We are now up to 1919, technically outside the period of this forum, but any help would be appreciated.

The abbreviation in question is "MI"

The obvious interpretation is Military Intelligence" but I would question this as the occupation of the people in question is given as "Hammerman".

Out of interest these Registers are now showing some recruits for the Russian Relief Force.

Just a thought could the MI be M1?

The M1 being ASC Mechanical Transport.

Hope this is a help and not the opposite.

David.

Going back in time to the Boer War MI stood for Mounted Infantry?? ;)

And Going ahead in time Mechanised Infantry???

Just to add to the confusion,
