Was he MID?

Some time ago I acquired the 14 Star and bar trio to 44580 Sjt B W Finch, RFA. The Victory had a MID oakleaf and the MIC shows "Emblems". I have always understood that this can only mean that the man was MID.

However, I couldn't find any record of my man in the MID microfiches at the PRO. Neither does the online London Gazette or the online Times show a hit when searched against 44580 (the MIC only shows him serving under the one number).

Although I can't explain the MIC, I'm inclined to think that my man wasn't mentioned.

But I'll be very pleased if one of the Pals can prove me wrong!
