davej Posted 13 June , 2004 Share Posted 13 June , 2004 Could anyone suggest how we track down where 11 Bn Royal Fusiliers were around 13 July 1917 - and what they were doing? Trying to find info on Pte George William Jacob 51448 who's death is reported on this date with Menin Gate entry but no info on where death occurred. Many thanks
Robert Dunlop Posted 13 June , 2004 Share Posted 13 June , 2004 I have checked 'The Royal Fusiliers in the Great War' but nothing for the 11 Bn on that date. Robert

crispy Posted 29 June , 2004 Share Posted 29 June , 2004 Dave. I had been waiting for the return of my copy of the RF in the Great War to see what if any thing it had of help for you, but in the meantime pleased to see that this had already been done for you. Of all the regimental museums that I have visited, or contacted over the years that of the Royal Fusilliers were in truth the least helpful, that said a friend of mine had a good response from there, as such I wondered if you had already tried the museum for information, if not the address is:- The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, H.M. Tower of London, EC3N 4AB. The Curators telephone number is:- 0171 4885610. You could of course find out the answer to your question by consulting (or obtaining) copy of the relevent 11thBn RF War Diary entry, best wishes in your quest. David.
