Marc Thompson Posted 14 June , 2004 Share Posted 14 June , 2004 Ian, Pte 21290 William Edwards was almost certainly KIA during German gas attack on night of 8th/9th August 1916 whilst 2nd Hamps were in trenches East of Potijze, Ypres - 125 killed and died of wounds, 100 wounded. I have a full account of the attack including a first hand narrative from Pte Byrne. Let me know if you are interested and I will e-mail you off forum. Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 15 June , 2004 Share Posted 15 June , 2004 Marc, Thanks for the help. Peter (Teapots) knows the story behind this - I have been offered the medals, scroll and plaque to a Pte William Edwards of the Hampshire Regt. Unfortunately it transpires that the medals were issued to the NoK of 8th Bn Edwards & the scroll and plaque to the family of 2nd Bn Edwards. I was tempted to buy the lot but not at £650 Many thanks - Ian
