The National Archives of Canada has him listed as 850006 and if you look at his attestation papers, the 5 looks like a 6. The 179th Battalions block of numbers was from 859001 to 862000, which would confirm your findings. I'll e-mail the NAC and ask them to correct the entry on their web page and I'll edit my original post to make the correction. Thanks again Terry.
