j.r.f Posted 29 June , 2004 Share Posted 29 June , 2004 This is just as a matter of interest.I and we have in the past spent lots of time and collumn inches, centimeters, sating what a difficult site the LONDON GAZETTE is,however I have just found what Must be information about my great uncle.I just typed in his surname and initial,ie R FLOOK and guess what I hit pay dirt straight away .In a way it is very mundain but in issue 29340 26 October 1915 SOLDIERS BALANCES UNDISPOSED OF.followed by a list of names.THERE he is FLOOK R PRIVATE 2nd BATTALION CONNAUGHT RANGERS 2 0 4.IE HE LEFT TWO POUND AND FOUR PENCE BACK IN HIS PERSONAL EFFECTS.They could not have found the money on his body for this was never found.OK its trivial but it has given me a thrill.and added just a little more to his story.Just thought I would pass this on so that perhaps you might find somethink similar. Derek Robertson Posted 29 June , 2004 Share Posted 29 June , 2004 Well done John. I usually can't find anything in the London Gazette even when I know there's stuff there to be found!
