Guest Posted 30 June , 2004 Share Posted 30 June , 2004 I have an army ambulance certificate E596 for a relative of mine. The details on it show that No6932 Private S Fry, 2nd VB, The King's (Liverpool Regt) attended a first aid course in Liverpool on 6th April 1898. I realise that this is well before the Great War, but I think it is possible that he was a career soldier and may still have been enlisted when war broke out (a long shot, I know, but I really am clutching at straws now). Could some kind soul with access to SDITGW look him up for me please? I would be most grateful.
Terry Denham Posted 30 June , 2004 Share Posted 30 June , 2004 There is no S.Fry on SDGW that fits the description. There are only three. Of course, he may have survived the war or transferred to another unit!
Stuart Brown Posted 30 June , 2004 Share Posted 30 June , 2004 I understand the 2nd Volunteer Battalion The King's (Liverpool Regt) became the 6th (Rifle) Battalion the King's (Liverpool Regiment) in the Territorial Reforms of 1908.

Old Chap Posted 15 July , 2004 Share Posted 15 July , 2004 If your man stayed in the 2nd Kings Liverpool's he would have served in India during WWI.
