Mark Hone Posted 30 June , 2004 Share Posted 30 June , 2004 I was interested to read in the obituaries of Anthony Buckeridge, author of the much-loved 'Jennings' books, that his father was killed at the battle of Arras. I presume him to have been Private Ernest George Buckeridge of the Honourable Artillery Company, killed in May 1917, whose name appears on the Arras Memorial. Anthony Buckeridge was 5 at the time of his father's death. The 'Guardian' obituary mentioned that he had presented a radio programme featuring his father's wartime poems and letters in 1996.
