Are there any experts on the Royal Warwicks out there who could supply me with any details of the deaths of Maj William Charles Christie, on 13th Oct 1914 and Lt Colonel William Latham Loring on the 23rd, both of the 1st Battalion?

All aid much appreciated,

Joe,

Major Christie was killed October 13th 1914 while leading an attack to the right of the village of Meteren apparently having been shot six times.

Lt Col Loring was killed October 24th. On Oct 23rd when an enemy force unexpectedly appeared on the flank and with difficulty and severe fighting the Warwicks were liberated from a dangerous position. Lt Col Loring was struck on the foot by shrapnel and urged to go back for treatment but refused and continued to command with his foot bandaged up with a puttee.

The following day he was back in action on horseback as he couldn't walk and had two chargers shot from under him and he was killed instantly.

Info from Bond of Sacrifice

Bob.
