craigatbow Posted 8 May , 2011 Share Posted 8 May , 2011 Can anyone enlighten me as to what an Army Troop Company did in the Royal Engineers, as opposed to what a Field Company for example did? Thanks Craig (Still looking for any help with 232nd ATC RE)
shippingsteel Posted 8 May , 2011 Share Posted 8 May , 2011 From my very rough understanding of the RE units, I believe these kind of units basically did the same kind of field work. The difference being that the Field Company was a unit that was attached to a certain Division, while the Army Troop Company was an unattached unit that was under the control of the Army Corps, and as such could be sent wherever needed. This is my simple understanding of how they worked, but I would welcome anyone who could expand further on that. Cheers, S>S
