MotherMave Posted 20 May , 2011 Share Posted 20 May , 2011 Hi, I am researching men from my local Cenotaph and have come across a Skipper of the "Loch Fyne" who died in 1915 and was on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Website as a Casualty, see below. Commonwealth War Graves Commission ADAMS, JAMES FREDERICK Initials: J F Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Skipper Regiment/Service: Mercantile Marine Unit Text: "Loch Fyne." Date of Death: 06/09/1915 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Memorial: TOWER HILL MEMORIAL I am trying to find out where he was born and where his family home was, just to confirm if he is the right man I am researching. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Mavis Williams (Mrs.)

MotherMave Posted 27 May , 2011 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2011 Thank you Silent Warrior, TcM59 and Robb Robinson for your contributions, but I have just come to the conclusion that this James Frederick ADAMS is the wrong man! I would love to think he is, as he is the only James Frederick ADAMS on the CWGC,but I found possibles, who might fit, in the local town, Connah's Quay, (see below) but I am wondering if it might be the Father or one the 2 sons, Father named Joseph and the sons named James & John, but no 2nd name for any of them. Anyway I am on the wrong Forum for that, so please accept my thanks and apologies. You are so good. Is this the right Family in Connah's Quay? 1911 census (RG14PN33937 RG78PN1960 RD619 SD3 ED6 SN95):- Address 3 CROSS ROW CHESTER ROAD FLINT County Flintshire District Holywell Subdistrict Flint Enumeration District 6 Parish Flint ADAMS, JOSEPH HEAD MARRIED M 47 FURNACE MAN WEST BROMWICH B'HAM ADAMS, ROSE WIFE (MARRIED 10 yrs) F 40 SMETHWICK B'HAM ADAMS JUN, JOSEPH SON SINGLE M 19 IRON WORKER WEST BROMWICH B'HAM ADAMS, CHARLES SON SINGLE M 16 SCRAP CUTTERS WEST BROMWICH B'HAM ADAMS, JAMES SON SINGLE M 14 MOSLEY ADAMS, A JOHN SON SINGLE M 11 CONNAH'S QUAY FLINT JOHNSON, DAVID ALFRED SINGLE M 18 SCRAP CUTTER WOLVERHAMPTON ADAMS, GEORGE R GRANDSON M 2 HOLYWELL FLINTS Kindest regards, Mavis
