I am hopeful of a newspaper pic of this guy. In the meantime, I know a lot of forum members chase info on the machine gun corps. Hope this helps.

Military Medal

Word has been received that Pte. William McAllister, Scots Gaurds, has won the Military Medal for Bravery in action while with the Machine Gun Corps. Before enlisting, Pte. McAllister was a member of the Durham County Constabulary, stationed at Blackhill, and is a native of Loughconnelly, the Braid. Notice has further been received that he was wounded on December 2, at Cambrai.

Thanks for that; here's an interesting tweak; the LG got his name wrong..

908 MAC ALLISTER W PTE MM 28/01/1918 1391 BALLYMENA

CORRECTED FM MC ALLISTER LG 19 MAR 18 P3478

Of interest also that the local paper got the news before the LG!

Sorry Phil - No more in the current load of papers I'm currently working on. Shiuld have the next batch shortly and I'll see if any light is shed.

Having only the barest notion of how the MG Corps was operated, I am unable to even cast a guess at this one!

I had just assumed that he was with the Scots Guards Machine Gun 'unit' - if that's the right word!?
