bmac Posted 9 July , 2004 Share Posted 9 July , 2004 I have just been reading through the In Memoriam sections of The Times on the anniversary of the first day of the Somme. I defy anyone not to be moved by the entries and the sacrifice of both the men and their relatives. I post just these two: Charlton - in ever loving memory of Hugh and Jack, sons of John Charlton, killed in action on 24th June and 1st July 1916. Ekin - In loving memory of our dear sons, killed in action 1st July 1916. Second Lieutenants Leslie Montrose and James Ekin, 8th York and Lancaster Regt. "God takes our dear ones from our homes, but never from our hearts" RIP lads.
