abbrover Posted 29 June , 2011 Share Posted 29 June , 2011 I have a friend in France who is helping a young French student research WW1 pilots. She has asked me to ask the good people of the GWF if they can tell her where the 25th Sq RAF was in September 1916 in particular on the 16 September 1918 when this pilot was killed. His name was Lt Edward William Griffin. Thanks for any help you can give Judith
Dolphin Posted 29 June , 2011 Share Posted 29 June , 2011 Judith Lt E W Griffin, an observer in No 25 Sqn RAF (formerly 6th Bn Gloucestershire Regt) was killed while flying in DH4 D8378 with his pilot Lt C Brown who was unhurt. The aeroplane was on a reconnaissance mission from Ruisseauville aerodrome when engaged by enemy aircraft near Mont St Eloi and forced to land at 08:30 on 16 September 1918. D8378 was re-built as H6885, completed on 25 October. I hope that this is useful. Gareth
