I thought I would start a new thread regarding this, how do you read the medal cards???

I have my great grandfather in law's one (see Sherwood Foresters) and it is a bit confusing

Next to Victory it has the figure - F/103 B12 then Page 2199

Next to British it has - do do

What does it mean???

Confused!!

There is a whole section on MIC's look down the forum titles you will see it.It will explain your questions.

Quote Chris Baker-On the MICs there appears a code against each medal that the man was qualified to receive. It takes the form like M/103 B1 page 329.

This is a reference to the original medal roll, from which the detail appearing on the card - which is only a summary - appears. The rolls are also at the National Archives but are not available online. There is a process to convert the code that appears on the MIC to a National Archives document number, which will be in the WO329 series.
