Terry Posted 11 July , 2004 Share Posted 11 July , 2004 On another thread I mentioned a MIC to a 14 Star man where the unit listed appears to be 2 Brid Tr, or possibly 2 Brid Sec. A look at Royal Engineer units in France in 1914 shows Nos. 1 and 2 Bridging Trains. Do any of the Pals have any idea of their role? Pontoons? early forerunners of Baily bridges? This fellow arrived in France on 20 Aug.,1914 and earned the clasp so obviously he saw action. Sadly I only have his 1914 Star and Victory medal, the war medal probably having gone into the melting pot a couple of decades ago.

Terry_Reeves Posted 12 July , 2004 Share Posted 12 July , 2004 Terry You are correct with your assumption, No's 1 & 2 Bridging Trains transported pontoon bridges. Terry Reeves
