Royal Buckinghamshire Regiment?

Ebay item 2257417141 lists a 1914 Star to the Royal Buckinghamshire Regiment. Forgive an ignorant Canadian, but I don't recall ever hearing of a unit by this name. Can anyone clear the muddied waters? Is this a case of a seller who doesn't know the regiments?

Hi Terry,

Have a look at this:-

http://www.army.mod.uk/royalsignals/1sigsqn/index.html

This is the modern day army. I think that they might have got mixed up with the Royal Buckingham Yeomanry ???. Take a look on the main site at http://www.1914-1918.net/CAVALRY/bucks.htm

Maybe i am wrong but it seems a plausible answer.

Glynn.

Terry,

Was intrigued by this and had a look at the online MIC's.

There is one E Brabham (Ernest) who is listed as being in the Royal Berkshire Regt, NOT Buckinghamshire. His service number is 12589, NOT 12569 as the seller describes.

Obviously this chap needs to get his eyes checked !!

Hope this is of assistance - I thought it rather strange to have a Buckinghamshire 1914 Star when the Regiment didn't land in Egypt until 9 April 1915 !!!!

The Oxford & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry [OBLI] would have encompassed the County of Buckinghamshire, there was however a Territorial Force. 1/1st { & Others } Bn;'Buckinghamshire' Battalion of that Regiment, but that did not go O/S until 30.03.1915[145 Bde/48th Divn.]
