Paul Reed Posted 16 July , 2004 Share Posted 16 July , 2004 I am trying to find out what unit a RFA man was in. His MIC states he landed in Theatre of War 5(i) on 21.8.15, which according to Howard Williamson's book was the Landakai Ridge. I can't find a listing of which RFA units were there; does anyone have any idea which ones were present?
rflory Posted 16 July , 2004 Share Posted 16 July , 2004 Paul: One section of the 25th Indian Mountain Battery served with the Malakand Movable Column in the Landakai Ridge actions in August and October 1915. Other artillery units who were in a Force commanded by Maj Gen F. Campbell that fought the Mohamands and Swatis in that area from August to October 1915 were the 6th, 8th and 9th British Mountain Batteries, RGA, the 25th Indian Mountain Battery, the 89th Battery, RFA and a detachment of Garrison Gunners. If your MIC shows he was RFA then he most likely served with the 89th Battery, RFA. Regards. Dick Flory
