Private JOHN HUGHES, 10618

6th Btn. South Lancashire Regiment 6th (Service) Btn. 38th Brigade, 13th Division.

Died: 9th August 1915

6th (Service) Bn. K1. Formed at Warrington in Aug 1914 in the 38th Brigade, 13th Division.

This might be one of my great uncles. He's born in Kirkdale & enlisted at Liverpool. But the CWGC listing gives no age & no family information.

Three questions;

Would someone with 'Soldiers died in the Great War' look him up & see if there is further information.

What does the low service number mean?

Could someone explain how the medals website works. I've got 3 greatuncles & no joy getting the website to bring up the cards on any of them.

Pvt. Albert Hughes. 29663. 89th Brigade, 30th Division, 20th (Service) Btn. Died 30 July 1916.

Fireman CHARLES HUGHES

S.S. "Carpathia" (Liverpool) Mercantile Marine. Died: 17th July 1918 Age 32

No service Number.

Thank you very much.

The MICS do not include Mercantile Marine men. One of our experts will no doubt tell you where they can be found.

I found the above entries by simply entering the surname and number. What problems have you had?
