Guest morleystreet Posted 8 August , 2004 Share Posted 8 August , 2004 Hi, I am new to the forum and finding all aspects very interesting and informative. My question relates to the 346th Siege Battery and its movements during June - July 1917. I have been to the PRO and read through the War Diary for August 1917 which seems to be the only diary for this Battery at PRO. If anyone could point me in the direction of Order of Battle files that may contain details or any other research tools I would be most grateful. regards Simon Brant

rflory Posted 20 August , 2004 Share Posted 20 August , 2004 346th Siege Battery went to the Western Front on 30 May 1917 armed with four 6" Howitzers (26cwt) and joined I Corps Heavy Artillery on 6 Jun 1917. It transferred to 63rd Heavy Artillery Group (HAG) later in June 1917 and served with it until transferring to the 1st Canadian HAG on 26 Aug 1917. It transferred to the 15th HAG on 10 Oct 17, to the 83rd HAG on 25 Nov 17 and to 49th Brigade, RGA on 18 December 1917 where it remained for the rest of the war. I would suggest you check the War Diary for 63rd HAG (Sep 16-Dec 18) at WO95/395. Regards. Dick Flory
