Non Combatant Corp

Hi everyone

The reason I have posted this thread is, I was looking in the CWGC and came across the death of a Private G A Russell aged 31, dated 5/11/18 he is buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery in Liverpool.

I just thought how close he was to the end of the war and as I haven't come across the Non Combatant Corp I wondered if it were a name for perhaps those who were against bearing arms.

Best wishes

Mary

I believe they may have been involved in base duties, clerical work, stores and supplies etc, although I have no doubt one of the more knowledgeable Pals will be able to shed more light on the matter for you.

Have you tried Google?

Thank you Terry for pointing me in the right direction I found the other replies really interesting. It now has set me thinking on another train of thought but I shall search the posting first to see if it has already been discussed.

Many thanks to everyone

Mary
