Malcolm Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 On 18th September 1916 the 23rd Division ( with the Green Howards) relieved the 15th Scottish Division in STARFISH LINE and PRUE TRENCH, west of CRESCENT ALLEY from 150 Brigade of 50th Division. The 15th Division History gives: ' ........... the relief was completed by noon on the 19th ' The previous entries only mention artillery bombardment and occasional mg fire on this sector. The Somme Day by Day mentions the relief and also mentions some trench raids were conducted in the sectors north of the Ancre. A look at the War Diary would be helpful.
