Guest mjc7uk Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 Is there any records stating who survived the WW1? As I am keen to find out my greatUncle Ted Peachey, who is a brother to my Grandmother and the said R. Peachey. My mother got a photo of 'Brother Ted' as we called him, and unfortunatly I dont know which Regiments he had served. I am hoping to take a photo of 'Brother Ted' in hope that some folks here would be able to regonise which regiment he is in! Regards, mjc7uk
steve fuller Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 If the uniform shows any badges, then somone on forum will be able to identify the Regiment for you.
Chris_Baker Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 Hi mjc7uk There are no records of survivors, if you mean in the form of a list. You can sometimes find lists of everyone who took part, from say a particular factory, village, football club, etc, but not for the whole British Empire. The two main sources of the records of participants are the medals records and the soldiers service papers. They both include survivors and casualties. Have a read of "Grandads War", the section about researching soldiers, at the Long, Long Trail, for more about this.
