2lewis's Posted 12 August , 2004 Share Posted 12 August , 2004 Please spare a thought for Private Lee Lewis DCM died of wounds 12/8/1917 my grand uncle lost but now found. Served with distinction and honour with the 7th Beds and 24th Coy MGC. His citation speaks volumes " For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He went forward with his machine gun during an attack, and when it was destroyed by shell fire, he at once returned through the barrage and obtained another. He went forward again alone, found his team and got his gun into action. He maintained his position until he was seriously wounded, setting a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty" Thanks Mark

My Gt Gramps fell in the 7th (see signature). Have their diaries etc if any use and always welcome any new info!! Recognise the name 'Lee Lewis', although it may have been from posts perhaps?
