Graham Smith Posted 29 May , 2012 Share Posted 29 May , 2012 Found this link whilst surfing the interwebnet...... Takes you to a whole host of e-books that can be read on-line for free. When you open the link I have found it easiest to use the HTML option......These titles can also be added to Kindle readers for free So enjoy...... http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/World_War_I_%28Bookshelf%29 There are also other catagories of books to view should you run out of WW1 titles. The below link will take you to AN INFANTRY SUBALTERN'S IMPRESSIONS OF JULY 1st, 1916 at Gommecourt http://www.gutenberg.org/files/28145/28145-h/28145-h.htm

kenneth505 Posted 9 June , 2012 Share Posted 9 June , 2012 On a related note to Guttenberg is librivox.org/ Here you can find free recordings of books in the public domain. Their search is sub-par but perseverance will pay off. I have discovered it is quite nice to load a book onto my overly complicated cell phone and then listen whilst doing errands or taking a stroll. While it's not WWI I heartily recommend the Personnel Memoirs of U. S. Grant, unabridged.
