Im trying to locate the area of France that i believe my grandad fought in (somewhere on the Somme) his name was harold russell and was in the royal horse royal field artillary. He was discharged in 1919 discharge number 32361 and had the rank of driver. He enlisted on 8th August 1915, at Nottingham. I hope someone out ther can help.

Stuart.

Hello Stuart, welcome to the forum and good luck

I'm afraid that without identification of his unit, it is very difficult to tell you where he went and what he did. His number is not of much help, as RH&RFA numbering does not automatically imply a unit.

If you know the unit, let us know. If not, the only thing you can try is to find his service papers. There's an article about this is "Grandads War" in the Long, Long Trail website.
