stiletto_33853 Posted 13 August , 2004 Share Posted 13 August , 2004 Hi, Could anyone tell me the whereabouts of this battalion in August 1917 and what action they took part in on 18th Aug 1917. Thanks Andy
BMoorhouse Posted 13 August , 2004 Share Posted 13 August , 2004 Andy, If you have a look at the 20th Divn history on this web site it will give you some idea. The 10th KRRC were (from memory) fighting for Eagle Trench at this time in the Battle of Langemarck 16th-18th August 1917. This was part of the Ypres offensive. Brendon. Annette Burgoyne Posted 13 August , 2004 Share Posted 13 August , 2004 Hi Andy This is from the K.R.R.C. Chronicle Orders came on the 17th for our immediate relief (The 10/K.R.R.C. were on east bank of Steenbeek with HQ in Au Bon Gite). The day was quiet on the whole, with a small operation at 6.30 a.m. to straighten out line (this operation was carried out by 12th King's and 12th R.B. who tried to regain trenches lost in counter-attack on the 16th), and in the evening we returned to Malakoff Farm and next day entrained for Proven. stiletto_33853 Posted 13 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 13 August , 2004 Brendon, Annette, Many thanks, researching a local who died on the 18th with no known grave (Menin Gate). The information has given me what i needed to take it to the next stage. Thanks a lot, both of you. Andy
