genegwf Posted 22 June , 2012 Share Posted 22 June , 2012 Hello all, After visiting and seeing the work being done at the Glory Hole in LaBoisselle I have developed a real interest in the fighting that took place there. Can any of the pals suggest any books which cover what took place there? I am not particular, I will read about the British, French or British involvement. I am interested in the time period of 1914-1916. I encourage anyone visiting the Somme this summer or fall to visit the site, it is well worth your time. Thanks in advance, Gene
jonrb Posted 22 June , 2012 Share Posted 22 June , 2012 Hi Gene, There is a book in the "Battleground Europe" series titled La Boiselle, Ovilleres/contalmaison, published by Pen & Sword. ISBN 0850525403 Mainly deals with Somme offensive but also mentions earlier fighting. Hope this is of use to you. Jon
Admin spof Posted 22 June , 2012 Admin Share Posted 22 June , 2012 Hi Gene You will undoubtedly get many for books on the Somme (I'm thinking Martin Middlebrook and Lynne McDonald for starters) but with your 1914-1916 timeframe, here are ones I have or will have in the near future which I can highly recommend. I’d also be interested in a book in English about the French at the Somme. Glen
