J'étais médecin dans les tranchées by Louis Maufrais

Just realized that I had this book and have started reading it. But a very interesting thing about the book is the quantity of personal photos used in it.

Apparently he had a private collection of 600 photos taken by himself or friends.

He used his notebooks to record his memoirs and then left copies of them all to his family.

here is a French link to comments about his book and they all seem complimentary.

Not sure if this book has been mentioned before or not.

Mags,

I have found no other reference on the forum about this book either, but I agree with you that it is a thrilling read. I have it in French, in pocket version.

Very good book and a story that goes straight to your guts !!
