Will M Posted 1 August , 2012 Share Posted 1 August , 2012 Found this interesting book by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, who helped to establish the Imperial Light Horse and was MP for South Africa 1906, 1910. A note written on the inside cover reads: sent to me by the author as a memento of his visit to Strathconas in 1910. A. C. Macdonell. Major General Archibald Cameron Macdonell was CO of the Lord Strathcona Horse 1907-1910, 1912-1915. Known as "Batty Mac" for his eccentric actions of bravery, such as standing up and cursing German snipers. The RMC Athletic centre is named after him and his family coat of arms is on the Currie building at RMC. He is buried at the Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston.
