Andrew P Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 Herbert William Mullarkey came from Kogarah in NSW and was an early reinforcement to the 4th Battalion when it was at Gallipoli. CSM Mullarkey was killed in the advance towards Mouquet Farm from the Pozieres Heights on August 18th 1916. It was the 4th Battalion's 2nd time in the line in this area. Mullarkey, Herbert William Number: 1588 Rank: CSM Unit: 4th Bn Service: Army Conflict: 1914-1918 Date of Death: 18/08/1916 Place of Death: Cause of Death: Memorial Panel: 41 Cemetery or Memorial Details: 26 Villers Bretonneux-France Next Of Kin: Place Of Enlistment: Kogarah, NSW Native Place: Notes: MULLARKEY, C.S.M. Herbert William, 1588. 4th Bn. 18th Aug., 1916. Age 29. Son of Fredrick and Elizabeth Mullarkey, of Kogarah, New South Wales. Born at Sydney, New South Wales. Source: AWM145 Roll of Honour cards, 1914-1918 War, Army Mullarkey had 3 brothers, two of whom also died. L/Cpl Kevin Mullarkey of the 20th Bn died of wounds on the 20/03/18 from wounds recieved two years previously at Pozieres; 2Lt Niall Mullarkey of the 1st Bn died at Flers on the 05/11/16.
