Guest KevinMarples Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 I have only just entered into the Forum and need to find my way around. I would be interested in anyone who is researching the 1/6 Battalion Sherwood Foresters (especially if connected with the Matlock and Wirksworth areas of Derbyshire. Three of my relatives served during the Great War in this battalion.

Stuart Brown Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 Hello Kevin, Welcome to the group. Suggest that you post their names, where they came from and serial numbers if known. You never know what someone might come up with. Good Luck. Stuart
Davben Posted 21 August , 2004 Share Posted 21 August , 2004 Hi Kevin, my Grandfather served in the 1/6th Battalion sherwood foresters as well during the Great War and his birth place being Chapel En Le Frith area, they were part of the 46th North Midland Division which disembarked for France around the 28/2/1915. there`s alot of info about the 1/6th Battalion on the Net , and you should try these sites for further info www.1914-1918.net/46div.htm and www.warpath.orbat.com/divs/46_div.htm for starters.
