Borden Battery Posted 20 August , 2004 Share Posted 20 August , 2004 For Canadian Corps researchers, here is a recent addition to the Royal Bank of Canada [RBC] website which lists all staff killed during the Great War. http://www.rbc.com/history/in_remembrance/ww1_list.html
N.S.Regt. Posted 20 August , 2004 Share Posted 20 August , 2004 I had seen this list before but they made some large improvements since I was last there. It never had the mini bios when I last seen it, good stuff. Best regards N.S.regt.
Borden Battery Posted 20 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 20 August , 2004 Yes, the mini biographies give one more data to work with. My grandfather was a junior banker with the Union Bank of Canada which was bought by the Royal Bank in 1925. With the recruitment of the 196th Western Universities Battalion [ U of Manitoba, U of Saskatchewan, U of Alberta and UBC] a significant number of the recruits seem to be either engineering students or junior bankers. Many of this group appear to have been absorbed into the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. I am still researching this possible relationship. I have done a quick search of the other Canadian banking websites, however, the RBC appears to be the only one with a Great War section.
