Just added on the new records section today on Ancestry:

"The Great War 1914-18 Magazine, Thirteen volumes, text, pictures, plates and maps comprising approximately 27,000 entries".

Covers 7717 pages on the website, its not searchable in the usual Ancestry way but can be browsed using the index available on the first pages.

To find it either look in the new records section on the homepage or Search > Stories, Memories & Histories > Military Histories.

Although Ancestry calls it "The Great War 1914-1918 Magazine" on the first chapter the title is,

"The Great War - The Standard History Of The All Europe Conflict - Edited by H W Wilson".

Sorry, my directions to it were a bit vague.

On the home page click on Search all records.

On the right of the page near the bottom click on Stories, Memories & Histories

On the right of the page near the top click on Military Histories

Click on View all in Card Catalogue

On the left of the page click again on Military Histories

Click on The Great War 1914-18 Magazine

about two years ago brought the volume for £25 there is a lot of nice photos in their at the back for the roll of honours for each year. Index isn't great if you want to find articles on certain towns. i.e photos of northampton but not in index.

Good to have, but unless you have the patience of Job almost useless for researchers in it current format. Couldn't they have loaded each volume as an idividual collection to enable searching for individual articles via page numbers.

Wake up Ancestry!!
