Hi all

If you were me .... where would you look next?

I would like to establish when and where my Gt Gramps (see signature for info):

1. was wounded (Gallipoli or Egypt?)

2. came back to Blighty

3. and returned to his 'new' battalion in France

4. And was he wounded, or ill, or both?

There are no service papers, but I have a fair bit of info from various sources on him.

He is listed on a local diocese roll as being wounded, but no more than that. As theres no date, I have to assume he was wounded when in the Middle east area, as he ended up KIA in France, even though his original unit was in Gallipoli and Egypt the whole war.

Ive got the MIC, Rolls, Chris Bakers research, cwgc, sdgw, mentions in local papers 'enlistment articles'.

So, where would you look next, and for what documents??????? Im off to the 'local' arhives soon, and would like to make the most of my time there so I can fit more in for more people.

Any help, suggestions etc would be very welcome. Thanks all

Steve

Steve,

I don't know to what age he was educated, but schools often published obituaries for 'old boys' in their magazines during the war. You could try that angle.

Hope this is of help,

Hugh
