Anyone any information on the activities of the 12th West Yorks around that date, so I can tie it in with Harry MacDonald who was shot for desertion on the 4th

I don't have the war diary for the 12th, but the infomation i have is that,on the 8th Oct the 12th relieved the 17th R.Fusiliers in the front line trenches west of Serre, normal trench warfare, though there where in preparation for the Battle of Ancre, which originally was to take place in Oct,but had again and again to be postponed owing to the persisent bad weather. The 12th practised for the attack and generally prepared for the operation. But when the attack took place on the 13th Nov the 12th were in Divisional Reserve.(Colincamp & Euston Dump area)

Thanks Kevin

Useful to know what they were doing when one of their number goes missing
