A good overview of the subject touching base with issues of industry, including women in the workplace, rationing, aliens, the changing nature of society. Some good use of personal accounts, together with reproductions of original offical letters, etc - drawn from the National Archives (which acts as the book's publisher).

I was particularly interested in the food related aspects of the book and it has certainly pointed me towards other research opportunities and I suspect would do the same for anyone interested in other specific area of the home front.
