Captain J Digby Wyatt

I recently obtained a book on the 54th Infantry Brigade, the previous owner was the above man.

He has made many alterations to the text as only someone who was there could.

I cannot find him in the online medal cards (probably under W and not yet available), can anyone tell me a bit more about him?

Thanks in anticipation.

John.

James Digby Wyatt received a Regular commission in the Northamptons on 14 Aug 14. He was twice wounded and awarded the MC and 1914 Star. He was also mentioned in despatches on 25 May 17.

Hi John,

This is quite a co-incidence, as we have Digby-Wyatt's pre-war copy of standing orders for the 4th Northamptonshires.

Sounds like someone sold his library when he died. Do you have any further information on the man Kate?

Cheers.

Not to hand, but I'm sure I could dig something up. Where did you buy yours, if you don't mind me asking. We bought ours from a stall in Northampton Fishmarket about three years ago.

Hi Kate.

When I said recently, I actually meant I got access to it recently. I purchased it through abebooks about 5 years ago, but I cannot remember who the dealer was.

It would be great if you have anything further.

Cheers

John.

Thanks for that Dave. Turning to Kelly's Directory 1914, James Ernest Ainsworth Wyatt lived at Bank House, in The Drapery, part of the then Northamptonshire Union Bank premises, now the NatWest. His capacity is not stated, though he was not the manager, and indeed may not have been connected with the bank at all.

Kate, Dave & Dick.

Thank you all for the information.

I have since discovered he wrote a book entitled "A Short History of the Northamptonshire Regiment"
