Blackblue Posted 29 August , 2004 Share Posted 29 August , 2004 Jim, Joseph Edgar EDWARDS was initially in the Royal Horse Artillery as probably a Gunner or Driver with the number 13206. He looks to have been commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery on the 11th February 1915? I can't find any mention of this in the London Gazette though. Later he was as an acting Major and looks to have finished the war at this rank. He commenced war service on what looks to be the 16th March 1915 when he embarked for Egypt (3). He was awarded the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. His card also seems to have some other interesting notations including what appears to be 'Emblem' or similar below the medal roll numbers. I am unsure of the significance of this. Dick Flory can assist with Royal Artillery Officers and may have some information on this man. Regards Tim D
