He attended King edwards in retford as a pupil becoming a science Teacher. In 1906 he gained a position at Cranbrook School and in 1907 joined tha staff at the Christ Hospital School in Horsham. He died on 19/8/1915 at the age of 36 having fought at Gallipoli. The local apper reports thst he died of wounds having been shot through the chest and is buried at Chatby Military Cem in Alexabndria, Egypt. He is remebered on the memorial in Retford market Square, the King Edward Roll of Honour and there is a Fives court in the Grounds of King Edwards School with a plaque built in to it stating 'In memeory of Captain William Eyres who died of wounds on 19th AUgust 1915' I am trying to trace any further information with regards to his involvement with the Lancashire fusiliers as his MIC states he was attached to them
