Hi all

Back in the early 1990,s I was living in Sydney, Australia and visited the local library at Ryde.

I remember browsing through a book containing biographies of notable young men who had

given their lives during the First World War.

It was a hardback , probably published in the U.K in the 1970,s and definitely was not Bond of Sacrifice

or similar . It contained a photograph of each man and a page on his accomplishments and provoked

thoughts of where would have life taken them if the war had not intervened.

It,s a bit of a long shot but someone maybe able to lead me in the right direction and I might track down

a second hand copy.

All the best

Micks

If it was had a red./wine cover it might have been an original De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour. N&MP have reprinted the five volumes and an index.

Cheers.

Tom.

Hi Tom

Thanks for the response

no it wasn,t De Ruvigny's

The book was exclusively about young men who were high achievers in their chosen field.

I remember one of the biographies was that of a successful alpine climber

who if he had survived the war would probably have been included in the British team who

attempted to climb Mount Everest in the 1920,s.
