Guest Ann-Marie Posted 1 September , 2004 Share Posted 1 September , 2004 My grandfather Frederick Turley enlisted on the 21st Feb 1908 just after his 18th birthday (17/1/1890) he enlisted at Lichfield. it mentions that he was vaccinated as an infant and it mentions vaccinated in Militia 20/2/08 which was the day before he enlisted. He was then revaccinated 27/10/11. I am puzzled about the Militia. It does mention on his short Service sheet that he was with the 4/so Stafford R. and an E. Bates 3/so Stafford R signed his papers as a witness. I also would like some help on where he was stationed before he left for France August 1914. He was in Warrington 23/2/08 departed from there 28/5/08. Gosport 29/5/08 departed 2/2/09 I cannot read where he arrived on the 3/2/09 he departed from there 25/9/10. Arrived F???? 26/9/10. On his statement of services depot, 2nd bat. posted 28/5/08. 1st Batt. posted 16/12/08 1st batt. awarded 1st G.C. badge 21/2/10. Any help in sorting all of this out and making a clearer picture of it all would be a bonus. Ann-Marie
